“The ability to hold something we’ve done or failed to do up against who we want to be is incredibly adaptive, yet uncomfortable.”
Brene Brown
Being in alignment with who we want to be involves aligning our actions, thoughts, and behaviors with our values, goals, and aspirations. It’s about living in a way that is authentic and true to ourselves, and being congruent with the person we want to be.
There are many benefits to being in alignment with who we want to be. It can increase our sense of purpose and fulfillment, and help us live a more authentic and fulfilling life. It can also improve our relationships and interactions with others, as we are more likely to be genuine and present when we are living in alignment with our true selves.
Living out of alignment with your true self can also lead to feelings of dissatisfaction, frustration, and even resentment. You may feel like you are not living the life you truly want, and that you are not able to be your authentic self. Other symptoms are fatigue, irritability, and/or a general lack of joy. This can lead to a sense of disconnection from yourself and from others, and can affect your relationships and overall well-being.
So how can we work towards being in alignment with who we want to be? Here are a few tips:
- Identify your values: Take some time to reflect on what is most important to you. What do you stand for? What do you believe in? By identifying your values, you can begin to align your actions with what matters most to you.
- Set clear goals: Setting clear goals can help you focus your energy and efforts on what is most important to you. Make sure your goals are aligned with your values and what you want to achieve in life.
- Practice mindfulness: Mindfulness involves paying attention to the present moment and being fully present in each experience. By bringing mindfulness to your daily activities, you can stay more attuned to your thoughts, emotions, and actions, and make adjustments as needed to stay in alignment with who you want to be.
- Seek support: It can be helpful to seek support from others as you work towards being in alignment with who you want to be. This could be through therapy, coaching, or simply talking to trusted friends and loved ones.
- Increase your mental health: Physical health and mental health are closely connected. Taking care of your physical health, such as getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, and eating a healthy diet, can help improve your mental health.
By incorporating these practices into your daily routine, you can work towards being in alignment with who you want to be and living a more authentic and fulfilling life.
